Pilates is a method of body conditioning working from the deep stabilizer muscles, outwards. It is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises that improves posture, flexibility and balance and is therefore a superb adjunct to body re-alignment. Everyone can benefit from Pilates from the person with chronic neck and back pain to the top sports professional who wants to improve agility and prevent injury and up their performance and endurance.
 
The muscles that stabilize the skeleton and support healthy upright posture often are weak due to lifestyle changes over the decades and due to incorrect training techniques. Strong skeletal stabilizers, or otherwise referred to as a strong 'core', are not only vital for correct posture but also for a healthy, strong spine that is also flexible and therefore more resistant to injury. As a Chiropractor I have found that Pilates when exercised with a spine that is correctly aligned, produces amazing long lasting and life changing results.
